First of all, why name a blog “Pass the Cake”?
Well, why not. But more so, because who doesn’t love cake. I love cake. Not all cake, and not any cake. Definitely not most store bought cakes, with their thick overly sweet frosting and bland interiors. And not box cake either. But I still enjoy a good piece of cake on occasion.
And, even more importantly, cake and the passing of cake, represents a million and one things to me, and says a lot about what this blog is.
This blog is about me, a college student…
…who on certain days at school, when her dining account has been drained, and her wallet lies empty, has been known to reach into her fridge and eat pieces of red velvet cake, for lunch.
…who really tries hard to pass on cake as much as possible, because she is trying to whittle her waist down, not balloon it up to the next weight category.
…who enjoys having fun and going to events like parties, events that often times, have cake (or SHOULD!).
…who most relevantly, enjoys cooking, and as such, enjoys making cake.
So cake is in fact a unifying theme of this website. Not because their will be cake recipes every day, or much cake eaten at all for that matter, but because it can tie together the themes of this website, with a rather amazing amount of grace and dignity.
So with that, you have the story of this blog, and of its writer. A college student, just trying to make it by with a minimum wage job, an early nineties Honda, a demanding degree (Computer Science, since you asked), a love for cooking, and wish to regain her waist after a run in with some red velvet cake (and just possibly a few too many “late night cravings”).
Pass the cake! But try a piece of my cake!
I hope you have a super year at school!
